Lauren and Michael love brunch (who doesn't?!), and they decided to celebrate their marriage with a modern morning wedding, complete with a donut truck. "My best advice for brides-to-be is to make the day about your marriage. Celebrate who you are as a couple and the exciting road ahead of you. As beautiful as it is, your wedding is only one day - the day after is even better, especially if you invest in it!"

Did you include any other traditions in your wedding? I carried my grandmother's handkerchief down the aisle, the same one my cousin held in her wedding. And at the last minute, I borrowed a bracelet, my something blue, from my sister.

Are there any DIY details you'd like to tell us about? For the ceremony, my maid of honor, my sister, my soon-to-be-husband and even my dad chipped in making tassels for our backdrop. I wanted something that wouldn't take away from the venue or light, but that created a focal point for our ceremony. I was worried tassels had been overdone, but I love them, and they brought the color palette together and added impact on a very small budget.

The Ceremony

"Our officiant told us to 'do whatever you need to do to feel married.' At first, the concept was so abstract I never thought we'd figure it out. But we chose readings that felt right, even though one was a quote, and we wrote our own vows. As an introvert, I wasn't looking forward to being the center of attention, but the ceremony ended up being a highlight of the day."

Your ceremony in three words. The bomb diggity - see also: modern, intimate, relaxed.

Who officiated your ceremony? Our ceremony was officiated by a childhood friend of Mike's, and he did an amazing job. After an unexpected life event, Dan was essential in getting us back on our feet. Because of him, our ceremony was funny, heartfelt, and personal.

What was your ceremony music? Our bridal party walked down the asile to " All You Need Is Love", and my father and I were grinning as " Here Comes the Sun" played. Our recessional was " Love on Top " by Beyonce.

What were your ceremony readings? Our ceremony readings were, "I Love You Means...", " Blessing for a Marriage" by James Freeman and an excerpt from The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks.

What were your vows like? We chose to write our own vows. Even though we talked about writing them months before, we ended up writing them a mere seven hours before we said 'I do'. We wrote them sitting in bed together and, both teary-eyed, decided to share them alone with one another first. It may not have been by the book, but it is a moment we cherish.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding ceremony? Just finally being married was pretty awesome; being surrounded by people we both love was icing on the cake!

Why did you choose this location for your wedding? We knew we wanted to have an urban setting, and Room 1520 is a hidden treasure. It's part of an industrial neighborhood, but you walk into this stunningly understated interior that is the perfect canvas to build your day upon.

What was the best advice you received as a bride? My very wise aunt noted that wedding planning was the first project we would ever work on as a married couple. She said the foundation we laid there, and the lessons we learned about each other, would be things we carried throughout our marriage. With that perspective in mind, we developed a solid understanding of each other's strengths and weaknesses that we might not have known about for years.

How did you manage the logistics have having your ceremony and reception in the same space? We had a Donut Hour! We wanted to get a few photos on the roof while our space was being transformed for the reception, so we hired Beaver Donuts to bring their truck by with an assortment of mini donuts for our guests. We got to sneak the first batch and it made our donut loving hearts complete!

The Reception

"Our favorite meal is brunch, and our Sunday morning wedding gave us the perfect opportunity to share it with our nearest and dearest. It was surreal to see all of our extended family and close friends under one roof, enjoying one of our favorite things!"

Tell us about your centerpieces. Our venue was really simple, so I wanted a few visual statements while keeping everything else simple. The garland runners on each table were full of magnolia leaves, ferns and eucalyptus.

What inspired you when you were planning your wedding? Keeping things simple was pretty important to us. The goal was to have a really beautiful space to welcome our friends and family to, and I think we succeeded. I don't have a particularly "bridal" aesthetic, so the fresh white space really lent itself to the vibe of the day.

What was your wedding menu? We served brioche french toast, vegetable frittatas, herbed scrambled eggs, roasted potatoes, cheese and charcuterie, fresh fruit and an assortment of breakfast breads. The buffet setup allowed guests the freedom to mingle, dance, and eat without worrying about a strict schedule.

What type of cake or dessert did you serve? A few sheet cakes from Whole Foods made sure everyone left appropriately sugar happy.

What was your first dance song? Our first dance was to " You Are the Best Thing" by Ray LaMontagne. Our father-daughter dance was to " I Wish You Love" by Dean Martin, and Michael and his mom danced to " Forever Young " by Rod Stewart.

What was your favorite moment or part of the reception? Hands down the speeches. Everything came across well to those who knew us and there was the right balance of intimacy and humor. We felt incredibly lucky to have such great people speak on our behalf.
