Chic Destination Wedding in Mallorca

Chic Destination Wedding in Mallorca

via

Destination weddings are always so dreamy, don't you think?

And while Ibiza is a firm favourite for a wedding abroad, we love that today's real bride and groom, Charlotte and Fergus, looked to its Balearic neighbour, Mallorca, for a wedding that was classic and elegant without cutting out the wow factor.

And it was captured, by talented destination wedding photographer, Claire Morgan.

With the most epic ceremony backdrop of the open air church at Son Servera, and a beautiful al fresco reception in Can Simoneta, Charlotte and Fergus didn't hold back on wining and dining their guests and showing them the very best of what Mallorca has to offer.

With stunning, high-end style (Charlotte in Monique Lhuillier and Fergus in Thom Sweeney), this chic couple set the tone for their refined celebration.

If you've always dreamed of a fun wedding in the sun, with all the grandeur of hotel bash in the city, be inspired by Charlotte and Fergus's sophisticated island bash...

Our Love Story

We had known each other from work for a few years when we worked at the same law firm. Then Fergus moved to a different law firm and we bumped into each other a few years later in a coffee shop on Fleet Street in London. I did a double take when I realized who it was, as I'd always liked him! Our wedding in three words? Family, Friends and Fun. We chatted and then five minutes afterwards, he emailed to ask me out! Pastel pinks, lilacs, grey and silver. The style was very classic and secret garden themed,Dinner was served under the canopy of foliage and flowers. The welcome BBQ on the Friday night was themed as bright orange.
It was an open air ceremony. One song was sung by my good friend Richard Holdsworth who composed a song for an old Irish poem. My husband is Northern Irish. The ceremony was performed by my brother was is a vicar, so that was a very personal touch! with an open air church with lots of flowers around the gate etc. Processional: I Giorni by Ludovico Einaudi.
It was expensive, let's put it that way! We splashed out on the food and drink, we also had a BBQ the night before which was amazing food and drink too with passionfruit mojitos all night! We also splashed out on the flowers. We had a DJ rather than a band which was a saving, but we did also have a jazz band during the drinks reception. We didn't have a cake which was a saving and we did the favours ourselves. Recessional: My Baby Just Cares for Me by Jools Holland & Florence Welch.Passion fruit mojitos at the BBQ on Friday night. At the wedding reception we had peach bellinis and lots of my favourite Spanish/Mallorcan wines.
We chose our venue because it was an outside space with amazing views. The food was also fantastic. It was a big wedding so we need a big area! First Dance: Reet Petite by Jools Holland and Cee Lo Green. Lots of flowers centerpiece and then smaller arrangements. Lots of tea lights in mercury glasses. Favours were Irish whiskey for the men - from the distillery just near where Fergus was born (Bushmills), and the ladies got olive oil from a Mallorcan olive grove. Lots of giant displays of flowers. Guests also got a bottle of our favourite rose wine in their rooms when they arrived.

The Inspiration

My Dad arranged our favourite opera singer - to be flown out to sing during dinner as a surprise! Being on the dance floor at with all our family and friends and Fergus and I being picking us up on their shoulders! Also, both of us being so excited and nervous to head down to the BBQ on Friday night by golf buggy! Best feeling ever! For our honeymoon, we were sent as a surprise by my parents to La Residencia - a beautiful hotel on the north of the island. It was so special and we had time to relax and talk about everything that happened. He sang Love Changes Everything and Nessun Dorma, among others. It was so magical to listen to him singing surrounded by our family and friends while looking out over the beautiful moonlight sea.

Favourite Moments

How incredible is that ceremony venue? The setting for the outdoor dining for the evening looked wonderful too. I just love how destination weddings allow couples to be a bit different and unique - those Twobird bridesmaid dresses are fab too.

Thanks so much to Claire Morgan Photography, and of course, the gorgeous Charlotte and Fergus for sharing their chic Mallorca wedding with us.
