There Is NO SHAME in Our Makeup Game

There Is NO SHAME in Our Makeup Game

via

Sure, maybe sometimes we focus on wearing makeup for other people. Maybe it's for date night, and maybe it's for an interview. And maybe there are days when we stand in front of the mirror carefully applying eye shadow, foundation, blush and lip gloss with the intention of making an impression upon someone specific. But, most of the time? Most of the time, we wear makeup because we like it, and there isn't one single thing wrong with that.

Lately, makeup shaming has been a hot topic in the beauty world. But the Makeup.com editors don't think it is anyone else's business how much or how little makeup we wear. You've seen us without makeup and with it, so we went ahead and put two and two together. We'll tell you why we wear makeup and how we do it, because we wholeheartedly believe in #thePowerofMakeup.

Jessyca: Why I Wear Makeup

"I'm the queen of the smoky eye. The other girls in the office regularly ask me to do a smoky eye for them because, for an amateur, I'm pretty good at it. But some days, I don't wear any makeup at all, which is why good skin care is so important to me. I like to try out different looks that seem fun, regardless of how many guys in the office laugh at my dark purple NYX Cosmetics Simply Vamp Lip Cream. I don't wear it for them anyway!"

Diana: Why I Wear Makeup

"Why do I wear makeup? Because I can. I mean, why not? It's fun, versatile and makes ME feel good! What we can do with beauty products is a creative art, not something worth 'shaming.' So what if we look a little extra defined, sculpted, brightened, whatever with it on? We look just as badass with it off, too. And isn't that the whole point of makeup - to enhance your already beautiful features? Why does loving makeup all of a sudden have to have these negative connotations and mean you're trying to impress someone? It means that I like this stuff, so I'm going to put it on my face. That's my choice, and that's really all there is to it."

Angela: Why I Wear Makeup

" So, until we did this little experiment and I actually listed all of the products I use on a daily basis, I had no idea I wore so much makeup. Seriously. I was in shock. However, that being said, I'm far from ashamed. Everyone who knows me is well aware that I am the girliest girl that ever was. I love the whole makeup process: shopping for products, experimenting with my look and rocking a different lip color every day. And, I OWN it. I say anything that makes you feel confident and happy in your skin is a good thing. Embrace your inner makeup maven and don't hold back on that red lipstick! Boom!"
