Something Blue: Ethereal Woodland Wedding Inspiration

Something Blue: Ethereal Woodland Wedding Inspiration

We look at weddings, a lot! And one of the things that keeps them fresh and exciting for us, with each passing season, and each new year, is how they change and involve with trends.

Decor themes, dress styles, popular flowers, and perhaps my favourite, the colour palette.

It's pretty fascinating to see how the most current hues have evolved, from deep reds and purples a few years back, to the soft blushes and taupes that are so stylish today.

And if you ask me what tone I predict will be big in 2016, it's got to be all about blue.

From flowers, to decor to bridesmaid's dresses, I've been spotting soft and dusty blues, paired with white or peachy tones popping up all over, and there's something really pretty, yet so modern, about the combination.

Which is why we were so drawn to this inspiration shoot by Emilie Ann Photography and Alexandria Wedding & Design.

With a whimsical woodland feel, beautiful tablescaping, and stunning florals, it's the perfect example of how mixed blue tones can work, even in a natural rustic setting.

About the Shoot

Scroll down for the full (gorgeous!) shoot, but first up, Emilie Ann Photography tells us a little more about it...

This romantic inspiration shoot based on a soft, ethereal blue color palette against the lush greens of a moody forest. It's free-spirited, romantic, and of course ethereal! We hiked into the middle of a heavily wooded forest in order to find this open area that was overflowing with lush, green ivy and wildlife to enhance the beauty of the shoot. The soft blues and creams of the flowers and dress work so beautifully with the surrounding area and the table setting helps bring it all together with: three different cakes, silver goblets, glowing candlelight, detailed plates and pottery and a lace table runner to truly give this shoot a unique, whimsical feel that anyone would fall in love with! We are SO in love with how this shoot turned out! The table setting was placed upon a hand-crafted wooden table which contrasted perfectly against the rest of the soft decor. The cakes were individually designed to add more variety to the table setting but to still have a cohesive feel. There is a soft blue ombre cake, a single, white-iced cake illuminated with silver accent icing as well as greenery from the florist, and then a simple bundt cake decorated with greenery and blueberries to go along with the ethereal blues theme. We wanted this shoot to have a very enchanting vibe with delicate details including a macrame hanging and a flowing, free-spirited wedding gown. We also included soft creams with a silver accent to add even more variety to the color scheme. This shoot also features a gorgeous cathedral veil that flows beautifully amidst the forest.

Isn't it pretty? Those cakes are fab, I love the use of green throughout too, and how the ornate table-wear adds real elegance to a rustic backdrop.

Thanks so much to Emilie Ann Photography and Alexandria Wedding & Design for sharing their wedding inspiration shoot with us.
