Justin proposed to Melissa one summer night by a campfire while the pair was on vacation in Prince Edward Island. "He procrastinated for hours and kept adding wood to the fire until he finally popped the big question!" Melissa laughs.

For their wedding, the couple chose a sleek city theme with a black, pastel pink and silver colour scheme. To fit their sophisticated wedding style, they chose Sidedoor Contemporary Kitchen and Bar as their venue. "I cannot say enough amazing things about Sidedoor. They went above and beyond to make sure our day was a dream come true. In addition, the venue is absolutely stunning. A hidden little gem in Ottawa!" Melissa says.

One of Melissa's favourite moments from the day was her first look with Justin before the wedding began. "It was intimate, exciting and full of happiness. We couldn't wait to see each other, and having that special moment just for the two of us during a day filled with people and chaos was truly special," she says.

The couple's ceremony was another highlight for the pair as it was officiated by Justin's childhood best friend. "It was a short, light and incorporated a little humour. It was perfect for us and very special."

For their first dance, the pair chose a French song as a tribute to the language they speak most with each other. "The words seem to describe us and our wedding day perfectly! The title in English means 'you're my wife, you're the prettiest'," Melissa explains.
