What Our Reporter Packs for Fashion Week | Nordstrom Fashion Blog

In anticipation of the Fashion Weeks, we've been talking to some of our favorite writers, editors, photographers and fashion authorities about how they prepare for and survive the bustle of the streets, parties and runways.

During Fashion Week, we rely heavily on global trend reporter Kristin Yamada's keen eye to capture the coolest looks on the street scene. Her photographs form the core of our seasonal fashion predictions and some of our best shopping inspo. So we couldn't help but ask her what she's bringing with her on her four-city fashion tour.

A gorgeous silk pantsuit scored it in Italy a few years ago. I love it so much! Its rich, all-over pattern feels particularly right at the moment. I'll probably rock it first day in Milan, channeling my inner Gucci girl.

New Public School shorts and a plissé slip dress also have me excited. When packing for 27 days on the road, versatility is key. Both of these pieces will be comfy in the street and can also be easily dressed up for evenings on the town.

The name of the game every day during Fashion Month, for me, is shooting as many shows as possible to capture the emerging mood and trends of the season. I start early and wrap as late as I can, while still allowing myself time to edit selections and get them sent back to the team.

Dinner rotates between fun dates with friends, decompression sessions with fellow street photographers, and take-out eaten on the sofa when completely exhausted. Evenings are filled with the occasional Fashion Week party and, most often, more editing to prep for the encompassing trend report I deliver once back home.

What will you do to recover? Do you have a secret FW weapon?

The days are long and crazy, but so exciting! Here's what one typically looks like.

My secret weapon this season is definitely Frank Ocean. His new album Blond has been singing something to my soul. Like everyone else in the world, I still can't believe the wait is over, nor take the record off repeat.

While I usually fully embrace restorative silence at night in my hotel and in the air between cities, I think on this round of Fashion Week I'll be subbing in a lot of wonderfully woozy Frank vibrations. You're welcome neighbors.

Both. I always pack a few pairs that can be relied upon to hold up, from the concrete jungle of New York to the dusty gravel of the Tuileries.

Number one thing you won't forget to squeeze in while at Fashion Week.

This time I'm bringing fresh white Airmax, Chanel mesh flatform sneakers, and Céline espadrille flats. Luggage space is at a premium on this length of trip, but I also always need one great pair of black heels for going out. I've been feeling suede so these textured sling backs too made the cut.

Who's the one person you know you'll make time to see despite the insanity?

Juice. In every city I have a couple go-to juice joints. It keeps me running!

What's your favorite all-time souvenir from Fashion Week?

This month I'm actually making a point to catch up with some of the people that I usually miss, from industry friends to travel mates. I trust my main squeezes will still love me come spring.

The greatest thing I take away from Fashion Week, always, is inspiration. Beyond the fashion, these cities offer so much cultural treasure. The Goshka Macuga exhibition at Fondazione Prada was my favorite pit stop last February.

Here are other things that made Kristin's packing list:

Julien David graphic tee | Converse Chuck Taylor® low-top sneaker | Topshop palazzo trousers | Herschel Supply Co. Settlement backpack
