Meet the New Boho Brides – Samantha and Simon

Meet the New Boho Brides – Samantha and Simon

via

Today is an exciting day on the blog as I finally get to introduce you to the new Boho brides who will be writing for Diary of a Boho Bride. I put a call out  a few weeks ago and I had a staggering amount of response back from you, honestly my lovely readers never fail to surprise me. All the entries were amazing, so many of you out there having some pretty awesome weddings.
It was a hard choice but I got it down to the final 5 and today in 5 separate blog posts I will me introducing you to all of them. I have picked them based on location, type of wedding and tried to keep the dates as spread out as possible, so you get to 5 different weddings from 5 different types of brides.

I will be opening up the application process again in the new year, so never fear if you fancy writing for the blog and you’re getting married at the latter end of next year or 2015 then there will be a chance for you to apply then.

For now though I’d like to introduce you to the next season of Boho Brides………….

Samantha Ramsay and Simon Bellis  Date of wedding: Saturday 10th May 2014  Location: Abbeywood Estate, Delamere, Cheshire  www.abbeywoodestate.co.uk  Colour Scheme: Our colour scheme is mostly pastels with duck egg blue  as the main colour.  ‘Our wedding will be a laid back celebration of us as a couple, with pretty pastels, lots of love and a sprinkling of DIY!’

They say opposites attract and that definitely applies to Simon and I! When we first met I was 23 and Simon 22. We locked eyes over the shredding machine in work and the rest, as they say, is history.
Simon left the company we worked for and I have to say I was a little bit concerned we’d not speak to each other again, but soon after we were organizing ‘dates’ and getting to know each other a little bit more.

Simon listening to his Tiesto (who?!), me listening to Take That. Simon in his sporty cars and me in my dad’s good old Yaris called Rolf. Simon watching films back to back, me reading book after book. We didn’t really have anything in common, but you can’t help who you fall in love with can you? We slowly but surely morphed into one person and now finish each other’s sentences, know what the other is thinking and now even love the same things.
We’ve had our ups and we’ve certainly had our downs. But we’ve got through everything ten times stronger and continue to do so, we’ve made each other the people we are today. Now I can’t imagine life without him. I can’t wait to be Mrs Bellis! And in 250 days (not that I’m counting) I will be just that.

The proposal

Simon proposed last Christmas morning just after we had finished opening our presents. We had talked about getting married for a long time, we’d talked about rings and what kind of wedding we would like, but even so I wasn’t expecting him to propose and so it was a wonderful surprise and I was so happy! To top it off, he explained to me that he had hunted my dad down the night before to ask for his permission, my heart completely melted and it’s the easiest ‘yes’ I’ve ever given.
So while I was sat at home wrapping presents and a bit miffed that he’d gone out for ‘lemonade and cigarettes’ late Christmas eve from the shop down the road and it’d taken about an hour rather than the normal 5 minutes, he was actually talking to my dad in the pub a couple of miles away, while my dad was in full festive spirit dressed as Father Christmas. Couldn’t have been more perfect and a true indication of life to come as part of my family!

The wedding

We had talked about getting married in Italy, my dad is half Italian and I’ve spent a lot of time there, it’s by far my favourite place in the world and where better to have the most romantic day of your life? We went there on holiday last year and Simon quickly fell in love too. The thought of the stress of organizing a wedding abroad put us off though, so it was back to the drawing board for us.
We made appointments at a couple of local hotels and left both of them feeling deflated and uninspired, this was not what we had in mind!
So one snowy day in March we headed off to a place we’d never heard of before, Abbeywood Estate, which looked a bit different. Not a hotel, not a stately home, not a typical ‘everybody has got married here’ type of venue. It was beautiful. I think I more or less cried all the way round! Even covered in all of that snow we could see how amazing this would be as a wedding venue, the glass room for the ceremony and reception, the fabulous gardens for the photographs, it was a dream! And as Heather, the wedding coordinator for the venue, playfully skidded her way around the grounds on our tour through the ice covered paths, we were sold.

So now we are well and truly under way with our wedding plans and enjoying every second of it! We both want a nice informal and laid back day where we can feel comfortable and enjoy our time with our family and friends.

We have all the major things already booked, venue, caterers, my dress and the most important thing…our photographer! Everyone thought I was going to be a nightmare when it came to finding a photographer because it’s something I’m really passionate about. But as soon as I set eyes on Claire Penn’s photo’s I was hooked and I could relax now that what I thought was going to be the hardest decision, was actually the easiest decision of the lot!

So we’re now in the middle of an enjoyable frenzy of DIY and pastel coloured ideas. We hope our wedding will be a reflection of us as a couple, with lots of personal touches and a lot of love throughout the whole day. Perfect xx
