When Pantone announced their colour trends for 2015, I have to admit I was more than a little disappointed. While I'm still having a tough time adjusting to Marsala, tipped to be the colour for 2015, there are a range of sea-side blues in the Spring palette which I absolutely adore! Forget Marsala, I'm backing these fresh blue shades to be the palette for 2015... and it seems I'm not the only one. Event stylist Elle from Inspire Hire and photographer Andrea Pennington sent over this gorgeous dip-dye shoot in bold shades of blue with a sharp contemporary look and subtle retro vibe. I'm totally in love with the ombre dress - please won't one of you try this?! - or for the slightly less brave (but probably more practical) the dip-dye table linen is a total winner! I also lusting over that hanging floral display - another top trend for 2015!

As a wedding stylist I frequently work with couples with very small budgets, but very big ideas as well as a real passion for DIY. So when I'm planning an styled shoot, I want to inspire but also try to include some DIY elements that are easy to recreate and totally affordable. For this shoot, we wanted to create a real WOW with colour. I dip dyed bed sheets as tablecloths and cotton napkins sourced on eBay for the table. I also customized some white ikea plates with china paint to create a 'dip dye' effect. My fingers also ended up an entertaining shade of blue!!

Our show stopping dip dye skirt was dyed for us by dress designer Anna D Souza who specializes is customizing and updating preloved and vintage dresses and family heirlooms, as well as offering a range of bespoke accessories such as shrugs and veils. Anna's amazing skirt is teamed with a high street metallic pink top and high street shoes. We also accessorized some beautiful House of Mooshkie dresses with a supermarket cardigan for added colour and texture!! Beautiful jewelry from Sarah Drew and brightly coloured headwear from Holly Young complete the fun and relaxed looks. Both Sarah & Holly run workshops and offer DIY options for brides who want to create their own wedding day accessories.

What is a party without some drinks? Our Gin bar features some violet flower ice cubes and an old retro drinks trolley, some fabulous Cornish Gin and ....Ernie our Flamingo. Emily Hankins is an uber-amazing cake maker who creates beautiful hand panted cakes, so of course she was the person to ask for this fabulous dip dye cake! Nikki from Knots and Kisses provided us with beautiful paper goods to match our dip dye décor! The floral design for this shoot reflects our ombre colour scheme. The table is decorated with simple bedding plants potted up in shallow trays, which is a super economical look to recreate. And they can be planted into your garden after the big day! The bouquet I put together has simple beautiful seasonal British blooms graduating from darker to lighter shades of blue.
