Binding souls for eternity: Halloween wedding ceremony script

Binding souls for eternity: Halloween wedding ceremony script

via

Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday and has always been close to my heart. Although I did not grow up with a heritage which embraces Dia de Los Muertos, I always felt like Halloween is truly a day when the veil between this world and the next is its thinnest. I also believe in eternal marriage - that is that a marriage can bind two souls for eternity, instead of "till death."

While my husband is atheist, and I currently don't identify with a specific religion, my husband was extremely willing to let me create a Halloween wedding ceremony script that would include some spiritual undertones.

Our officiant, Dave, was extremely open to me writing the script. I let him know that I wanted the ceremony to be short and sweet and not very drawn out. I did some research on how to word some phrases online, and here is the short Halloween wedding script I came up with:

Officiant: Family and friends have come together on this holiday to celebrate and bless the marriage of Robert Siegel and Ashley Rothschild.

According to Celtic tradition, the veil between this world and the next is thinnest on Halloween night. This makes tonight the perfect time to join two souls in matrimony lasting not only this life but the next.

Beauty and youth fade away, money comes and goes, but your love is irreplaceable. Love is eternal. Ashley and Robert, keep that in mind as you make these eternal vows.

Please present the rings which represent your eternal bind.

[Best man hands rings to Robert. Each hold the rings.]

Robert John, place the ring on Ashley Michelle and repeat after me.

"As this ring encircles your finger from this day forward,
year in and year out,
so will my love forever encircle you.
Wear this ring as a symbol of this love."

Ashley Michelle, place the ring on Robert John and repeat after me.

"As this ring encircles your finger from this day forward,
year in and year out,
so will my love forever encircle you.
Wear this ring as a symbol of this love."

Robert John, do you take Ashley Michelle as yours and yourself as hers from this day until the end of days?

Robert: I do.

Officiant: Ashley Michelle, do you take Robert John as yours and yourself as his from this day until the end of days?

Ashley: I do.

Officiant: Family and friends, I now ask you to repeat after me. "We now pronounce you husband and wife!"

Family and friends: We now pronounce you husband and wife!

Officiant: I now pronounce you Mr. and Mrs. Robert Siegel! With my blessing and the blessings of your family and friends, Robert John, you may now kiss your bride!
