This wedding is sure to give you that summer loving feeling. All English country garden and prettiness personified.

Emma and Jimmy chose to hold their wedding reception in Jimmy's parents garden and so opted for a lovely marquee. Their nearest and dearest all helped to create their wonderful day and oodles of home made touches made their day really personal.

My favourite element though just has to be those blooms, the Peonies and Sweet Peas must have smelt heavenly.

Emma wore elegant lace and Jimmy went for a dapper suit, didn't they look gorgeous?

THE PROPOSAL | July 25th 2014, Abersoch Beach. A complete surprise! Abersoch is a special place for both of us as we regularly visited separately with our families as children and now together as adults we treat it as our retreat from very hectic lifestyles at home.

We'd arranged to go with some friends for the weekend and were blessed with sunny weather. Jimmy knows how much I love Abersoch beach and late afternoon on the 25th took me and our mini sausage dog, Coco, for a walk along the beach leaving our friends back at the house. We walked towards the wave breakers, past all the people sunbathing and enjoying the sea, our favourite walk. We came to the quietest part of the beach where no one was around and I started playing around with Coco when Jimmy said he had a question to ask me, casually I asked him 'what's that' when he didn't reply I turned around and he had got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife!

Completely overwhelmed with how romantic and thoughtful a proposal it was in the beautiful evening sunshine I had to be prompted to say 'YES!' Jimmy knows I would have hated anything too conspicuous and Abersoch made it so special for me - even our beloved Coco was involved.

We celebrated with friends who were back at the house waiting with baited breath (Jimmy had filled them in as to what he'd got planned right before we left to go to the beach) and family who had driven up that evening to surprise me.

THE VISION | English country garden. As modest people we didn't want anything too 'showy' or over the top, we wanted our wedding to be a reflection of us. We'd aimed for a really natural feel where the beauty of the surroundings wouldn't be lost to over the top décor or flamboyant ideas. The most important thing for us was that our friends and family would be able to feel relaxed and enjoy our special day with us.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | Once we had decided on the venue together I took on most of the planning (I'm naturally an organiser) and systematically ticked things off my long list. I tried to make decisions based on my gut reaction, I have a tendency to over think things if I'm allowed to and I didn't want to do this and get super stressed - it was important to me to enjoy the planning. Jimmy and I made all the important decisions jointly but he left me to organise the finer details.

THE VENUE | We very quickly decided we'd like a reception venue which gave us the most scope for creativity. Hotels and specialist wedding venues didn't feel right for us, we wanted something more individual and Jimmy felt strongly he wanted to have the celebrations at ' home' so Jimmy's parents kindly (and bravely) offered us their home and welcomed all our friends and family in a marquee on the lawn.

The ceremony was at St Andrews Parish church in Tarvin, just down the road from the reception venue.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | My dress is almost unrecognisable from the one I tried on. I had extensive alterations done to my Phil Collins gown by the utterly wonderful and talented Tricia at Tricia's Bridal in Oswestry. My parents gave me my beautiful Alex Monroe bee necklace as a wedding present to wear for the first time on the wedding day and all other accessories were natural freshwater pearls. One of my best friends, Carys lent me her gorgeous headpiece too which I utterly adored. I wore peep toe shoes with lace and detailing on, I chose flat shoes to make sure I would be enjoy my day without sore feet and dance the night away - I'm not great in heels.

FINDING THE DRESS | I'd always know roughly what I wanted, I'd spoken about it to friends many times! The criteria was vintage style lace, fitted, straps and nothing too big or fussy. I instantly fell in love with this dress for so many reasons; the lace is perfect - I feel it has a real vintage feel; I love the detailing on the back and up to the neck; the sweetheart neckline but unfortunately the original
shape was completely wrong for me. I felt like I was taking a bit of a gamble by buying a dress which could be perfect but needed a lot of work to get there but I loved the lace and detailing so much I thought it was worth it. Tricias Bridal made this into my dream dress.

THE GROOM'S ATTIRE | We choose to hire suits and decided on blue as it just seemed to match our country wedding theme. One of Jimmy's good friends is a tailor and so he made Jimmy's shirt, complete with pink trims to match my bridesmaids. Jimmy wore his sausage dog cufflinks too.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | Jimmy's brother Harry read Philippians 4 in church, we aren't regular church goers but having read through the ones we'd short listed from much internet searching this one meant the most to us. We wanted to stick with the traditional wedding march to enter and hymns which we remembered fondly from childhood so we choose, Jerusalem and All Things Bright and Beautiful. We wanted our friends and family to recognise the hymns to they could join in with choir on the day. On our return to the venue we had a harp and flute player playing a mix of modern and classical and were absolutely fantastic, a real treat. Disco Dave our DJ had literally the whole wedding party dancing all night!

THE FLOWERS | Flowers had been my main inspiration for the wedding theme. They were hugely important to me and I wanted to find a florist that could create the style I had imagined. I wanted English garden flowers, nothing too 'made up', relaxed but pretty and not too styled. Pale pinks, corals and pastel colours. Wild Floral Design provided exactly what I had envisioned - with the help of Pinterest and my dodgy descriptions of particular flowers which I didn't know the names of they came up with even more than I could ever hoped for! My bouquet with my favourite Peonies and Sweet Peas was a larger version of the bridesmaids and matched the groomsmen's buttonholes.

THE CAKE | My amazing sister made our wedding cake. My sister is a great cake maker and made her own wedding cake so we knew we would love her to make ours too - in fact Jimmy insisted on it! We had asked for a 'Naked Cake', I felt it suited our natural, unfussy theme. My Sister decorated it with my favourite flowers, Peonies, to match our bouquets and the table decorations and her husband had even made the wooden cake base. Jimmy and I were blown away by how perfect and beautiful looked and it tasted great. It was so special for us and I think my brother in law and nephew enjoyed the practice runs too.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Good friends of ours who'd we met up with when we were in the early planning stages of planning the wedding had given us some advice: 'Make sure you invest in the things you take away to remember the wedding by, get a great photographer and wedding rings you love!' My bridesmaids father is a jewellery designer so made our rings for us and we looked extensively on-line and read many testimonials before finding Dewi Clough our photographer! Dewi had exactly what we were looking for in terms of style - we wanted photographs which captured the feeling on the day, that noticed the little details and picked up on the atmosphere. We didn't want staged, unnatural posed shots. We met Dewi to discuss our likes/dislikes and knew straight away his style and personality fitted with ours - it just seemed 'easy' and on the day felt unobtrusive and relaxed. Dewi was absolutely amazing and a pleasure to have with us at the wedding! The photos are exactly what we had hoped for.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | My big sister (and best friend forever!) was maid of honour along with best friends Leonie and Lucy and my gorgeous nephew Tom as page boy. The girls wore dresses from Mango.

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | It was important to me to add as much of a personal touch as I possibly could so every spare weekend and evening was spent decorating jam jars, making order of services, menus, place cards, plant pot table plans, chalkboards etc etc etc etc. Jimmy even made the menu stands! My sister kindly helped us out and made amazing glittery, personalised jam jars for us too as well as the cake and Jimmy's parents spent a lot of time making the garden and outside areas look fabulous for the big day.

I always notice the small details at weddings and felt it was important to make these as special and personal as I could so I took inspiration from Coco and added sausage dog logos wherever possible - why not! We loved the idea of being able to see people as they were enjoying our day and leaving us a personal note in the guestbook so we made a polaroid guestbook which my amazing bridesmaid Leonie took charge of. In keeping with the natural theme we used hessian, wicker and paper lanterns.

Jimmy's best men Steve and Will were invaluable to us on the day, whilst Steve took charge of being Toastmaster, Will looked after Jimmy and I and the two of them delivered the most funniest and memorable speech ever!

THE HONEYMOON | We spent a few days recovering in Langdale, Lake District but we have decide to postpone the main event until December when we have booked to go over to Australia and New Zealand to visit Jimmy's family and tour around in a camper van exploring together. Jimmy teases me saying 'you've been everywhere' so we wanted to go somewhere we could discover together - South Island New Zealand has always been a bucket list destination for us and a dream honeymoon.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | Jimmy drove us from the church to the reception venue in his father's classic Triumph TR6, it's a beautiful car and sounded amazing as we sped off but it had started to drizzle so I asked Jimmy to stop to put the roof down, unfortunately we couldn't get it going again - something to do with the choke.... who knows... I remember thinking maybe I should be distressed as we sat stuck on the side of the road but as friends stopped their cars to push our in the rain I just felt so happy to have amazing people with us that day and how funny it was. When Jimmy's father discovered us on the side of the road he had it restarted within minutes and we continued as we had planned. I will also never ever forget my Dad whispering to me as he handed me over at the altar or the day before when friends and family came to help us decorate the marquee and garden and seeing what we had been envisioning for months actually real and as perfect as I had imagined it to be when the decorating was done.

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | I would pass on the advice I was given from our friends Hedda and Karl, make sure you invest in the things you take away. Make gut reaction decisions, you'll drive yourself mad over analysing everything and your always be right if you trust your instincts! Take help offered from friends and family, don't try to do it all yourself.
