Liz and Andrew decided on the incredibly scenic Cornerstone Sonoma as the backdrop for their wedding. Courtney, of A Savvy Event, wove the couple's celebration throughout all of the different settings of the venue, like the vineyard lawn, garden tent and the modern-rustic barn. We absolutely can't get enough of the florals by Tesoro and beautiful details of the day, all perfectly captured by Megan Clouse. We know you are going to love this one!

What made the wedding special and unique?

It's hard not to have a memorable wedding when it's in wine country! Sonoma is such a magical place and having our wedding at a unique venue like Cornerstone made it all the more unique. There was a different setting for each aspect of the wedding - the ceremony took place on the vineyard lawn, our dinner was in a beautiful garden tent, and the reception took place in a rustic barn that we transformed into a modern lounge. Our family and friends were wowed by the ever changing scenery.

Tell us about your dress!

The dress was a strapless, satin, Rosa Clara gown that I accessorized throughout the wedding. I bought the dress at Novella Bridal in San Francisco. It was the only bridal boutique I went to and it was the last dress I tried on. I'm not an embellishment type of girl so the structured simplicity of this dress was absolutely perfect for me. For the ceremony I added a lace off-the-shoulder bolero that complimented the lace dresses my bridesmaids were wearing. The dress came with a 60's inspired satin jacket that I changed into for dinner and for the reception, I channeled my inner Kate Middleton and put on handmade angora sweater from Ireland and some Tory Burch pearls.

What were some touches added to make it personal?

There were some fun and unique features at our wedding that made it very special. One in particular was a surprise groom's cake for Andrew. Andrew is a salt water fish tank enthusiast and I had our amazing cake vendor create a clown fish cake that replicated one of the fish in his tank. He had absolutely no idea and the look on his face when he saw it was priceless. There was so much detail on the cake that it looked like a real fish with scales! This bride got major brownie points for being sneaky.

What was the most memorable part of the day?

The most memorable part of our wedding were definitely the speeches given by our best man and maid of honor, Dina and Rhett DePauw. They're our best friends, they were married just a few months before us, and we have a long history together. I don't think I've ever been to a wedding where the guests were laughing so hysterically throughout the entire duration of the speeches because they were that funny. Laughs and cheers were had all around and there couldn't have been a better set of toasts to wish us well.

Tell us how you met and got engaged?

Andrew and I grew up in the great state of Iowa and met in high school. We started dating when Andrew was a senior and I was a junior. We continued our relationship through college at the University of Iowa, through grad school and our first jobs in Chicago, and landed in San Francisco for Liz's interior design career where we were engaged on 12/13/14 after nearly 9 years of dating. At that point, it was about time!
