Romantic Boho Wedding with Cool Bridal Party Style

Romantic Boho Wedding with Cool Bridal Party Style

via

Today's wedding is a pretty apt one to be sharing on Bridesmaid Week - because it features a seriously cool bunch of bridesmaids!

It also features a pretty awesome bride and groom too - gorgeous Devin and Kyle who created a ceremony-focused wedding, that was all about the meaning of marriage.

And capturing all the boho wedding style and intimate moments, was the wonderful Jessie Holloway Photography.

With lace textures, brown suede boots, abundant accessories, and a meaningful lakeside setting, this wedding is my kind of style!

Devin's beautiful off-the-shoulder bohemian wedding dress is from Daughters of Simone (designers close to my heart because they're making my wedding dress too!). Her DIY dried flower crown was the perfect adornment to top it off.

Kyle and his guys led a smart take on the rustic attire, with tweed ties and suspenders from Etsy adding a touch of charm to their classic attire. The bridesmaids made brought it in the style stakes with mix and match white lace dresses and eclectic accessories.

But the thing that will inspire you most from this wedding, is the fact that it's not about decor, it's not about flowers, and it's not about fancy food. It's all about a couple in love, making a big commitment, with their closest friends and family by their sides. And that's pretty wonderful.

Wedding Day Snapshot

Our Love Story

We met on the Fourth of July on the lake. We already knew of each other because he was from the small town I was currently living in. That weekend on the lake we spent lots of time together. We also found out our dads were on the same competition water ski team together thirty years ago! After spending time together that weekend, I knew there was something different about Kyle. It was Saturday March 15th and we had plans that night to go to dinner with Kyle's parents. After they sat Kyle and I, I immediately opened my menu. To my surprise, there was no menu there. The menu had been replaced by Kyle with photographs of us through our relationship and memories of special things we had done. When I looked up he was on one knee! Shortly after my parents and his parents surprised us at the restaurant. After dinner, Kyle surprised me by taking me to one of our favorite spots downtown. As I am getting out of the car I am greeted by one of my best friends. As we all walk in the restaurant, they walk me to another group of my best friends. As Kyle leads me around the entire place, at every corner we get to is another group of my friends or family. At the end he had a little section blocked off for our engagement party. It was truly the sweetest surprise!

Our Wedding Day

I, like every other bride, wanted my wedding to be as stress free as possible. It is so easy to get caught up in the "show" of it all. I wanted to focus on the beautiful union of me and my husband. We wanted things to be simple and fun! The actual wedding was small (around 40 people), and then after the wedding we had a big reception in Kyle's parents backyard. It was so perfect for us and we had the best time! I love the bohemian wedding look. I tried to focus on natural colors and lots of greenery.

The Venue

It was the spot my parents got married! Also, we met on the lake, so when I saw the beautiful view of the lake from the venue, I knew it was perfect!

The Dresses

My dress was by Daughters of Simone. It was EXACTLY what I had in mind for my big day! I wanted the bridesmaids to truly feel like themselves and be able to show their own style so I let them pick out their own dresses.

The Flowers

We actually ordered all the flowers online. They were all dried flowers so we were about to make the bouquets and centerpieces a few weeks prior to the wedding. We also used lots of feathers. The flowers were very inexpensive and easy!

The Photography

Not only is Jessie one of my very best friends but she also is the very best at what she does. No one could have captured our special day quite the same as Jessie.

Favourite Moments

One of my favorite moments of that day was probably the ride from the wedding to the reception site. The entire wedding party all rode together. We were all singing and dancing in the van and it all hit me. I had just experienced the best moment of my entire life and there I was, surrounded by my best friends and the man i love so much. I couldn't have asked for anything more.

The Decor & Details

Luckily, the venue was a beautiful outdoor scene so it didn't need much! My dad made the benches and the arbour from trees in their backyard. The aisles were lined with lanterns with the dried flowers on top. We also used the dried flowers and greenery on the arbour.

The Ceremony

My dad is a preacher so he officiated our wedding! It was so special for me to have him do that. It made it so personal.... and emotional!

The Music

Processional: Ellie Goulding, 'How long will I love you', The Piano Guys, 'A Thousand Years' Recessional: The Beach Boys, 'Wouldn't It Be Nice' First Dance: The Beach Boys, 'God Only Knows' Father/Daughter, Mother/Son dance: Tom Petty, 'Wildflowers;

The Refreshments

We wanted the food to be something that our guests could eat on all night. We chose some of our favorite finger foods so that it would be easy to eat between dancing!

Advice for Other Couples

So many times people get caught up in so many things that a wedding truly isn't about. The decor, the food, the flowers, etc. I'm not saying you shouldn't enjoy these things, I'm saying at the end of the day remember this isn't about the wedding. It's about the marriage of you and the person you love more than anything. Make it special for you two because before you know it, that day is over and you want the day to end with the best memories possible. Not the stress! Take in every second of that day.

The Honeymoon

We went to Royal Plantation in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. It was absolutely the most amazing trip we have ever taken and i would 100% recommend it for other couples.

So special right? I love that the cool, eclectic styling makes a big impact, but how the rest of the day is entirely stripped back. So meaningful and romantic. Oh and how sweet was their proposal story too!

Thanks so much to Jessie Holloway Photography and of course Devin and Kyle for sharing their beautiful bohemian wedding with us.
