Before my wedding I spent more time than I’d happily admit searching for the perfect bridal makeup look. It was hard to stray away from what I was used to- I wanted to do something a little different for the very special occasion yet stay within my comfort zone and still look like myself (I figured it probably wasn’t a good idea to mix it up too much and give our guests a shock!) So today I thought I’d group together the top five make up looks I considered for my own wedding to bring you a little inspiration- the below are mostly brides from real weddings over the past year.

1) Dark Upper Eye Liner & Nude Lip

If you’re proud of your eyes and want to accent them, this is a great option. Very demure yet glamourous at the same time!

2) The Bright Lip

I wish I had fuller lips and if I had, I would have gone with this look. So dramatic!

3) Retro/Vintage

Often involving both a dark liner and bright lip, this can be amazing with a hairstyle to match. Since my dress was vintage, I dithered over a vintage makeup look to match for quite a while.

4) Smokey Eye

This is just so pretty and glam. I love the way this bride went for a slightly darker lip too, making the overall feeling of the look very warm.

This is my favorite and the look I went for in the end. Ok, so I didn’t look close to as lovely as this bride (oh for those green eyes!) but I was pretty happy in the end with my make up. I have yet to get official photos back though so will keep you updated!

Tuesday we saw a wedding planner’s chic wedding in San Sebastian, Wednesday I tried to draw from the depression experienced after the wedding with some hopefully helpful advice, and finally yesterday we saw a true Fly Away Bride wedding where the couple, two pilots, got married on a plane!
