The Prettiest Lip Color from the Paris Shows (So Far)

The Prettiest Lip Color from the Paris Shows (So Far)

When I caught a glimpse of the vivid magenta lips at Sonia Rykiel's spring show in Paris, I felt like I was discovering lipstick for the first time. I'm not one to normally gravitate toward a strong lip color, but something about this shade-more grown-up than hot pink, less intense than dark berry-makes me want to redesign my entire makeup look around it. It's like the cool girl's version of red lipstick-spicier and unexpected, yet still utterly feminine. The look is the work of genius makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury, who you may recall put a vibrant spin on Cleopatra eye makeup using bright violet shadow at the Victoria Beckham runway show a few weeks ago. For the look at Sonia Rykiel, Charlotte told Style.com that she used a matte, magenta-violet lip pencil. There's no mention of which one she used, but after playing around in our product closet today, I discovered that if you layer Lancôme Color Design Lipcolor in Fuchsia Clutch over Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté Lipstick in No. 12 Forbidden Burgundy, the mix creates a nearly identical shade.
